I’m so excited to welcome you to the Family Adventure Press blog! I’m the author of George and the Whispering Garden, and I wrote this book straight from my heart — and from many happy hours spent in my own backyard with my kids.
How It All Began
One sunny afternoon, my son kicked his soccer ball a little too enthusiastically and it bounced straight into our old oak tree. As I watched him run to fetch it, I thought… what if that tree had a secret door? What if a grumpy little gnome lived inside?
That single spark turned into George and the Whispering Garden — a story where everyday backyard play becomes pure magic.
A Tale Full of Gnomes, Fairies & Garden Adventures
When George’s soccer ball hits the ancient oak, a tiny door swings open and out comes Grumblekin the gnome — arms crossed, eyebrows furrowed, and in desperate need of help. Before long, George and his best friend Max shrink down to gnome-size and tumble into an unforgettable nighttime adventure.
They ride hedgehogs through moonlit flowerbeds, solve tricky riddles whispered by the wind, dance with fairies, and race against the clock to save the garden’s magic before midnight strikes.
This book is my love letter to real gardens — the ones right outside your door. The ones with gnomes who might be watching from behind the petunias, fairies hiding under mushroom caps, and leaves that seem to whisper secrets if you listen closely enough.
